If it was easy, everyone would do it.
If it was easy to earn at least one million dollars, everyone would do it. As those who have joined the ultra-desirable millionaire club can undoubtedly attest to, earning and saving that much money takes time, commitment, discipline, and a careful focus on dollars and cents. But what many individuals who aim to be millionaires—and even many current millionaires—don’t know is that there are a number of other daily rituals and practices that unite millionaires, and what’s more is that many of these practices are related to matters besides finance.
Let’s take a look at 10 daily rituals most millionaires have in common.
10. Rising Early, and at the Same Time – Most millionaires don’t sleep in regardless of what day it is. More specifically, most millionaires, in addition to foregoing the snooze button, also rise early—normally at nine in the morning or earlier.
The source of this uniting factor for millionaires likely relates to the early schedule they adopted when amassing their fortunes, and also, their enthusiasm to meet the challenges of the day.
Waking up late might cost more than a little bit of time!
9. Exercising Frequently – While it’s difficult to pinpoint the overall physical fitness level of millionaires, we can surmise that they’re in pretty good shape, as they are known to exercise frequently. Perhaps this active daily ritual relates to millionaires’ desire to be at their best—or maybe it relates to millionaires’ desire to burn some of the day’s stress!
Whatever the case, most millionaires exercise daily, from walking to swimming and golfing to yoga, as well as everything in between.
Time to get moving!
8. Eating Healthy, Similar or Identical Breakfasts – Most millionaires, to operate at their best and to maximize their energy and focus, eat the same healthy foods for breakfast daily. Singer Carley Rae Jepsen, who has a jam-packed schedule, eats “vanilla yogurt with granola and fruit” for breakfast every single day. Similarly, NBA superstar Shaquille O’ Neal sticks to an “egg-white omelet and fresh orange juice” for his breakfasts.
Pancakes, sausage links, and bacon feel a bit unhealthier now.
7. Making a To-Do List – To chart and monitor the progress of each day’s tasks, goals, and requirements, most millionaires make a list soon after they wake up. Small and large tasks alike, from washing the car to filing taxes, are usually recorded on these lists, to assure that nothing “falls through the cracks”.
Perhaps millionaires, at least in part, earned their wealth by always setting goals, paying attention to details, and working hard—or in other words, using to-do lists!
6. Reading – While most millionaires have ridiculously full daily schedules to work around, interestingly enough, most millionaires also find some time to read on a daily basis. Most of this reading material is likely newspapers and books, but other forms of writing can just as well fit the bill. The larger point to take away is that millionaires are always learning, adapting, and improving.
Here’s a reminder for millionaires and non-millionaires alike: libraries can be used for free, so there’s no excuse to delay in checking a book or two out!
5. Relaxing – This one might come as a surprise, but yes, most millionaires relax in one way or another daily. While some readers may consider this to be “lazy”, the practice is actually an investment in one’s overall performance. Studies have shown that relaxing improves productivity!
While hard work is certainly an important ingredient in the recipe for success, it appears as though a “sprinkle” of relaxation is as well!
4. Paying Attention to Friends and Family Members – When adapting to a hectic work schedule, it’s easy to neglect both family members and friends. However, most millionaires make a specific point of not doing so, and also, they pay attention to friends and family members every single day. While this is a kind and caring thing to do, it furthermore improves focus and attention on work by reducing the stress of avoidable mishaps.
For example, calling to wish someone happy birthday will prevent an argument, fight, and/or awkward situation from popping up—aiding productivity in the process!
Just as most millionaires invest in insurance, most millionaires also invest in friends and family members with a few minutes of daily conversation.
3. Writing in a Journal – Millionaires, to keep track of the numerous happenings of their professional and personal lives, usually record the day’s events, conversations, important points, and other pertinent information in a journal. This data reinforces significant thoughts and ideas, helps to remind individuals of noteworthy obligations, and also, serves as an infallible record of items that can be referenced at a later point.
2. Delegating – Most millionaires, to keep their once again jam-packed schedules in order and to guarantee the quality of completed tasks, delegate assignments to respective professionals. For example, if a millionaire needs some gardening done, or some vacation information, he or she will probably delegate the tasks to corresponding experts: gardeners and travel agents. Again, this point frees up schedules, assures the quality of completed tasks, and saves money, as millionaires’ time is very valuable.
Non-millionaires can also make use of this advice, as spending too much time working on a difficult task greatly amplifies its cost, as one’s efforts are valuable!
Resting Until Refreshed – Finally, most millionaires sleep and rest until they’re refreshed; however long this takes is irrelevant, as the benefits afforded by getting an adequate amount of sleep are wide-ranging. Moreover, this refreshing rest allows millionaires—and will allow anyone else—to better rise and complete important daily assignments.
As was stated initially, millionaires are bonded by more than intelligent financial maneuvers; the wealthy individuals also have many daily rituals in common. Adopting one or more of these rituals may even help non-millionaires to amass fortunes of their own.
